| Our Nepal Team: Red Panda Network-Nepal See our U.S. Team » Naveen MahatoDirector/Research Coordinator (Red Panda Network-Nepal) naveen.mahato@redpandaproject.org I am Nepalese, educated at Nepal’s Tribhuvan University Institute of Forestry. While at the Institute, I became interested in wildlife research and, for my senior thesis, conducted a study on red panda distribution for WWF-Nepal in the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area. Since this time, I have carried out another study of red panda in Mt. Sagarmatha (Everest) National Park, and research on Tibetan Serow and endangered Himalayan Pheasants. For these studies I have been privledged to work with some of Nepal’s leading conservation organizations including IUCN-Nepal, People’s Nature Conservation Trust (formerly the King Mahendra Trust for Nature Conservation), and World Pheasant Association. I recently finished a course on GIS and remote sensing at the ITC in the Netherlands. I am excited to be a part of The Red Panda Project team that creates the PIS Protected Forest, the world’s first protected area dedicated to red panda.
